Chess in Tashkent

In Tashkent chess is mostly learned before it is played. Academies carry the game: SkyChess with branches from Qiyot to Chilonzor and Yunusobod, City Chess near Aybek metro, and the International Chess Academy on Ankhor Buyi, heir to the republic’s children’s chess school. The open boards are their tournaments, the federation’s calendar and a children’s library club. Academies come first below.

Chess960 in Tashkent

Uzbek listings on the tournament server for 2025 to 2027 were searched for Chess960, Fischer random and Freestyle, in Uzbek, Russian and English. Two sections of a national Freestyle championship, one rapid and one blitz, are listed for Tashkent in July 2026 under the federation; their pages name no hall.

In Chess960 the pieces behind the pawns start in one of 960 shuffled orders, so prepared openings count for little and the thinking starts on move one. Between over-the-board events it can be played online at ch960.com.

How these lists are kept

The cards rest on the academies’ own websites, the pages of the Uzbekistan Chess Federation and the public tournament server chess-results.com, where Uzbek organisers post their events; business directories add teaching centres that no second page confirms yet. Every fact carries the day its page was opened.

In each list the place whose pages show chess most recently stands first; that order is a date, not a verdict. A question no page answers is left as “not stated by sources”. The status lines and the limits of the method are explained behind this list.
